Hi there my name is Kaiser and I love to play rough! I am 16 months old and came from a family that did not realize the need to tell me what I could and could not do. So basically I decided I was in charge. Of course being an Eskie and being in charge meant I would do anything and everything to protect my family and property.

So if I decide you should not be near or I sense you are afraid of me I bark ferociously. I am very intense and like to stare other dogs down challenging them hoping they take me up on it! I dare ya!

I really act like a spoiled little child and do not like to share my toys. When my big Lab foster brother has a ball or a bone I get right in his face and bark at him constantly. He growls and does not give it up and since he is quite a bit bigger than me I leave him alone. Not the same with my Eskie foster brothers I will get into it with them if they want it. Bring it on!

When I first got to my foster Mom’s I snapped at my foster Lab brother Cash and my foster Mom flipped me on my back and told me NO! It was the first time that had ever happened to me and it surprised me. I have not done that again. She realizes it is very important to catch me in the act and once she does and tells me NO! I remember it.

We are working on NO BARKING! This is pretty difficult one for me but there is progress. It is not that I cannot bark at all it is just the wild crazy barking she really does not care for

I take a long time to warm up to strangers. In fact if you come inside my fence you better stand still and not stare at me. If you walk around I will bark and jump on you and if you get too close to the house…well please don’t do that. My Mom is really trying hard to teach me when she says it is OK I do not have to be so protective.

She calls me her sumo wrestler and loves to hug me. I love to give kisses and sit close when I am not wrestling with my Eskie brother or chasing my Catahoula sister Saydee.

The other day my Mom had a particularly bad day and she was crying. I was not sure what was going on so I started to play the clown to try and make her laugh, lying on my back and trying to get hold of my tail! It worked!

I love to play tug and will jump up with my rope bone wanting you to take it and play tug of war. In fact my foster Mom swings me around in the air since I will NOT LET GO! Sometimes I get too anxious to have her take it or jump up when she has it in her hand and have nipped her.

The other night my Mom saw more progress. She told me to kennel and we ended up in a staring match. After a minute or so I realized she was boss and was not going to back down so I walked into my kennel.

I really need to go to a very experienced Eskie Owners home. One that has lots of time to play with me and spend time teaching me they are in charge and I am just the helper. I did come from a home that had small children but really need one with only older children that can show me they are in charge not me.

If you have room in your heart, energy to keep up with me and patience and strength to curb my need to be in charge please fill in an adoption application. My foster Mom will be doing a very careful screening since I need just the right match.

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
