Hi ERU rescued me from a shelter where I was brought in with another Eskie. He got adopted but because I was HW+ they were going to send me to the Rainbow Bridge before my time.

I am doing the slow kill method of HW treatment which is 30 days of antibiotic and then a year of monthly HW preventive. The rescue supplies the HW pills for the year. I am not showing any symptoms and am full of energy. I love my people and will let you know by doing a lot of barking.

I love to pounce on my toys just like a cat and will love to play with them. I pretty much just tolerate the other dogs here at my foster home…so I really would like to be your only pet and get all the love and attention. Now my foster mom would like to tell you about me.

Apple is a beautiful young girl, a slender 22 lbs, full grown. Apple is crate trained, with soft, wavey white fur and drop-dead gorgeous eyes! She is really one of the sweetest dogs I have come to know. It has been a joy to have her and I love her dearly. We all want her to have the "forever" home she needs and deserves.

Due to one of my other eskies taking a dislike to her, Apple has been living in my kitchen. The "dislike" escalated to a serious fight and Apple could have died. There were neck wounds and body wounds. She has lost both canine teeth from injury. Through lots of antibiotics, prayer and TLC, Apple has healed wonderfully! I buy her a dog food called "SOLID GOLD Hund-n-Flocken and I'm very pleased with it. It's a little higher than grocery store brand, but is a very high quality food with no by-products. I think this has contributed to her healing so well. She is full of energy and a happy little girl!

Apple enjoys her walks around our property and is always on a leash when outside. We live in the country on several acres. There is a feral cat that sits and meows at her and she ignores it. We walk the same trail and I am always careful of her (healed) neck wound , so the leash doesn't pull on it. A harness would be perfect, but we do good with the collar. She never pulls or tugs at it.

Apple is very happy to be with the other dogs in the family, but is understandably scared when she senses the one that attacked her.

When family is over, she loves the attention, but is never a problem. If you tell her to get in her bed, she lays in her crate with the door open.

One of my grandsons is 4 yrs old and enjoys being around Apple and petting her. She comes up to him, nudges him and is content to sit and let him stroke her. If he makes unexpected moves, as 4 yr olds do, she gets a little nervous and retreats to her kennel. By the way, she loves her pet bed in her kennel! It is her safe house! With older kids, she would be fine. I think she would be a little nervous if she were "rushed" by a lot of little children. I would ease her into that situation!

Apple will seem timid about walking on linoleum. When I first got her, I had to put rugs down across the linoleum. I laid on the floor and called her from rug to rug to let her know "it's ok". Now that she's living in the kitchen, she has learned to walk on linoleum, but prefers carpet or rugs. I lay a rug in front of her kennel and she's very happy to lay on it. When ever I walk into the kitchen, she's all happy and pouncing wanting to be petted. She'll come into my bedroom if I call her and let her know it's ok. She'll put her paws on the mattress and give you eski kisses (licks) if you let her! She's really affectionate, but still learning what's allowed and what's not.

Each morning and evening, I am greeted by the world's sweetest dog, pouncing on the floor, happy to see me again! Apple has so much love to give someone who will be patient and kind as she comes to trust you

I am actually on my way to a new foster in Texas.

Oh by the way my name is Apple…because I am so sweet…but I came into rescue named Snowflake and if you really want to get my attention that is what you need to call me.

If you are interested in me now though you can contact Roxanne at jdr@frontiernet.net

Special Needs: HW+

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
