WHERE I'M BEING FOSTERED:Centreville, VA

Hi, everyone. My name is Nanook, and I'm of Virginia, not of the North! :o) (Just a little joke there!) I just came into foster care after being very reluctantly surrendered by my previous family. They love me so very much, but I'm afraid I didn't especially like my new little 10-month old (human) sister, and I was starting to get a little nippy around her (though I NEVER bit her--or anyone else either). But my family would be so happy to see me find another loving, caring home, without small kids, who will appreciate all my wonderful qualities.

I'm a really sweet, friendly and playful boy who only wants to love and be loved. When I first got here to my foster daddy's home, I was very friendly and affectionate to him right away, even though I had never met him before. Now I try to snuggle up next to him while we watch TV together. (Sometimes he'll even let me lie right on top of him while he's scratching me behind my ear. Ooooh, that feels so good!)

I'm neutered, fully vetted and in great health. My previous family, who had me since I was a young puppy, took such good care of me and made sure I went to the vet on a very regular basis. I'm heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I do suffer a bit from seasonal allergies that cause those brown tear stains under my eyes, but that's very common among us Eskies. Right now I'm sporting a shaved down summer cut, but my hair will grow out quickly enough, so I won't get cold when fall and winter approach.

I get along well with other animals, both dogs and cats, but so far I'm still getting used to all the critters here at my new foster home. My foster daddy has 4 dogs and 2 cats of his own, as well as another Eskie foster named Peaches, who will soon be posted here on this website.

One of my foster brothers has now fully accepted my being here and is trying to get me to play with him, and I'm starting to warm up to him also. (The cats will take a little longer to get used to me, I think, because I do like to play with them, which usually means chasing after them! TeeHee!)

I have a very good appetite and I sure do love my treats. I have a bit of a sensitive stomach, though, so I get fed good food made especially for us sensitive types. I'm a very typical Eskie in one respect: I like to bark (loudly) at strangers who come to the house or whom I see while out walking. It's not a mean or ferocious bark; it's just to let people know I'm around! Once I see that my humans are fine with these other people, then I'm just as friendly as I can be to them.

My foster daddy thinks I'm a truly special and wonderful guy, and he says some lucky person or family is going to scoop me up very quickly, because I'm so perfect in almost every way. We just need to be sure I don't get adopted into a home where there are--or will be--young children or babies around.

I lived all my life with a terrific family who loved me so much and hated giving me up. I really want to find another family that will cherish and pamper me just as much as they did--will that be you? I'm right here waiting for you. You'd better hurry up and submit an adoption application for me, because I won't be available for long. You wouldn't want to miss out on someone as fantastic as I am, would you? (I didn't think so! HeHe!)

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Bill at: bill@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Centreville, VA with my foster daddy, Bill.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.)

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
