About Gabriel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 06-070
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Gabriel! (I used to be called Perry, but my foster mommy says I'm such an angel she changed my name.) I'm a 3- to 5-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who stands 19 inches tall and weighs almost 27 pounds. My rescuer says I'm the nicest Eskie you'll ever meet, and that she's never met such a wonderful fellow as me!

I'm recently neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I just had a doggie dental, and now my teeth are so white you'll have to wear shades when I flash you my smile :o) I'm a lovely "warm white" color (not white but not biscuit either--somewhere in between). My coat has a bit more texture, and my muzzle is a little broader than a standard Eskie, so I may have a dash of Nordic, German or similar Spitz-breed in my bloodline. But if that's the case, it just makes me even more distinguished!

I'm housetrained, but since I was in a shelter for a little while my potty lessons will need to be reinforced with regular walks and a consistent feeding schedule. I did have a couple of "marking" incidents when I was first sprung from doggie jail, but my recent "snip-snip" operation should take care of that. For the first few weeks in my forever home, I should be supervised and pet-gated, crated or kept in a carpet-free room when you're not at home, at least until I've had a chance to settle in.

I do well riding in the car with you, and though I haven't been leash-trained yet, my rescuer says I'm very smart, so it shouldn't take me long to learn. I already know how to "sit" for a treat, so I can probably learn LOTS of commands and tricks. (We Eskies are very talented that way!)

I just love EVERYbody--humans, little humans, dogs and especially cats! Cool huh? So if you're any of those, then we're a perfect match! I even helped the vet's cat groom herself, that's how nice and helpful I am! TeeHee! I'm a very easy-going charmer, and I'll even give you Eskie kisses if you lean in for a cuddle (but you'll probably want to do that BEFORE I help groom the cat!). :o)

I'm a swell, lovable guy who would love to find a forever family that has children or other pets to play with. Does that sound like you? If so, please hurry up and fill out an adoption application for me. My foster mommy says I won't be around long, because I'm sure to be snapped up quickly!

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah at: deborah@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Grand Rapids, MI with my foster mommy, Gale.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is an adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
