Yes, I am cute – and my personality is as cute as my face (and floppy ear) – most of the time. See, I have this trust issue. The only humans, prior to my being in the shelter, were mean to me. I was a puppy mill puppy who was sold to a family with children who hurt me. I finally bit one of them and they dumped me at a shelter. Fortunately, one of the shelter workers saw the potential in me and worked with me several times every day so I could trust her. Once she saw that I could trust, she contacted ERU and my foster mommy came to get me. As soon as she got me in the car I lavished her with kisses and decided I wanted to stay with her forever. I have a plan – if I act like I don’t like anyone, she’ll HAVE to keep me. I LOVE my foster home – lots of doggies to play with. It would have to be a very special person (or family) to lure me away from all I have now…could you do that?  You would have to be REALLY good, as I am a big chicken.  I like to lunge, bark and snap.  I have even bitten an adult who wanted to adopt me!  If you think you could handle me, you'd have to live within a reasonable driving distance to Raleigh and preferably have had preveious Eskie experience.

Thank you and WOOF!

Spunky!

More about Spunky in NC

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
