Sugar came to us as an owner surrender.  She wasn't doing well with the young children at home and around the neighborhood and it was causing everyone to have a lot of stress.  

She is a very sweet girl but needs some time to warm up to strangers.  Once she knows you she'll stick to you like a piece of velcro!  The best approach to gaining Sugar's trust is just ignoring her and letting her come to you when she's comfortable.  Also, lots of treats!  She can be bribed. :) 

Sugar is house trained but has an issue with submissive peeing.  She will sometimes piddle when she's excited or if you talk to her in a stern voice.  She will need a home with someone who understands how to deal with this.

She will do best in a home with a fence of some sort.  She grew up with an underground fence and has a phsyical fence at her foster home.  She does well with both.  She has a love of chasing cars so it is vital that she have boundries.

Sugar is overweight and will need some exercise to help shed some pounds.  She loves to go for walks and chase her tennis balls.  It would be great if she could find an active home that will help her with all of her 1 year old energy!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
