This little girl is a real sweetheart! She came to us from a shelter in West Virginia where she was adopted and then returned for having too much energy. Boy, they weren't kidding! Once she came to us though, it was determined that her behavior was fear-based. After time in foster care and the behaviorist working with her, we have a very sweet girl on our hands!
She's very smart, loves all family members, and wants so much to please her humans. She loves playing with her toys, getting brushed, playing in the pool, listening to music, and lap time with her humans.

Amy has come a very long way from the scared little girl she was when we got her, and we don't want her to back slide. Therefore, we are requiring that her adopter stay in touch with her behaviorist/foster and continues working with her, especially through her transitional months in her new home. She also has some obedience training, and will certainly enjoy learning more with her adopter.
A fenced yard is a must; at least 5-foot, but a 6-foot privacy fence is preferred.

Miss Amy does well with most dogs and cats with proper introduction. She also does well with older respectful children.

====================================================================ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT AMY
Amy/aka Amelia is now available for adoption, and she's looking for her perfect forever home (preferably in Florida). She needs a quiet household with a fenced backyard to play in; fence should be 5-6 feet high, with locked gates. She may try to escape, especially at first, so it's best to be out in the yard with her each time.
She also needs a strong leader that will continue to work with her; this means that the person who adopts her will need to keep in touch with her foster, for continuing training and adjustment advice. You need to have the time for her. If you cannot do this, then Amy is not the dog for you.

She is very sweet once she gets to know you. She wants so much to please, and just needs to have the guidance, with structure. She currently weighs 25 pounds, and just turned 5 years old on 7/5/2023. She has a very high energy level, but she also knows how to relax; she loves her lap time. Her foster plays relaxing music for her when she's in her kennel, or when she leaves the house. Amy is house trained, but you also have to pay attention to her bathroom signs. She has some obedience training, and knows 'sit', 'stay', 'wait', 'down', 'off', 'kennel', and 'leave it'.
She's getting better at walking on a leash. However, if she gets excited you need to be able to calm her down. Amy enjoys sitting outside, or inside at a window or sliding glass door, just watching nature. Especially lizards, which she will chase if given the chance.
Amy has learned not to charge out of the door at her foster's home when open, but you will also need to work with her on not running out through your doors.

Amy loves all her family members, and is so happy when the foster's husband comes home from work. She has done well with respectful children ages 8 and up. She has also done well with low energy dogs, with proper introductions and once she gets to know them. She also loves her toys (strong dog toys!), and she'll jump into your arms if you ask her to. She also loves to play in the pool!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
