Lumi is a sweet, energetic Mini American Eskimo with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Some of her favorite things include playing ball, going on long walks, and especially exploring wooded trails. She thrives when she can burn off energy and enjoy the outdoors. At home, Lumi is very affectionate. She absolutely loves snuggling and is a true lap dog who enjoys being close to her people. She is not aloof and prefers companionship over sleeping alone whenever possible. Lumi does well with both men and women and has shown no strong preference for one over the other. She is currently the only dog in the home, so it's hard to say definitively whether she would prefer to be an only pet or have an animal companion. She does experience anxiety, so any introductions to other pets would need to be thoughtful and dependent on the situation and environment. She has been crate trained since puppyhood. While she can be vocal at times in her crate, she generally does well and settles. Lumi is decent on a leash and enjoys walks, though leash manners are still a work in progress and she can pull when excited. A fenced yard would be beneficial but not strictly required, as long as she receives regular exercise and mental stimulation. As far as negative behaviors, Lumi does have some anxiety and can be strong-willed. She has a dominant, bossy streak and needs a confident handler. While she has shown that she can listen well and behave differently for others, our personalities simply are not the right match, which has made consistent training difficult in our home. With the right person and structure, she has the potential to truly shine. Lumi is a wonderful dog who will do best with a confident, patient owner who understands anxious dogs and enjoys continued training. She is very loving and eager to bond, and with the right match, she has so much potential to thrive.
