Winston
Sometimes our best is not enough,
such was the case with Winston.
A spry little fella who touched many lives.

When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little-- but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared;
Miss me-- but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan--
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me-- but let me go.

Wisp
Had to send Wisp to the Rainbow Bridge today. The estimate when they realized the cancer was back and in her lungs was 2-4 months. Three weeks later it was 1-2 months. She still seemed fine until this past weekend but then started a rapid decline. Last night she got all she wanted of her preferred treats, including salmon treats like I used when she first came to us to try to convince her that some people weren’t bad. This morning she got all the shrimp and steak she wanted; she preferred the steak. After that she rested while I stayed with her and waited for the vet to come to the house. The picture with this entry is one that was hard to get. Wisp loved to sit on the deck in the sun but she never really trusted people and so she wouldn’t stay out there if people were around. She usually did her sunning when we weren’t home. We’d get home and see her heading from the deck to the bedroom to go back under the bed. Sometimes though, when we were home and if it was quiet, she’d go out there to lay in the sun.......Jean Jeffrey, March 10, 2017

Wynston
Sharing this with a very heavy heart, I had to let our remarkable Wyn go last night, Friday, February 24. This boy has left a such a tremendous void, sure wish I was only dreaming. Wyn had spinal issues and his mobility went through changes as he was with us. When he first came, he could walk on all four, Wyn's cute quirky walk, but all four. His mobility lessened through time and we all lovingly adapted. Oh, he was so independent, strong, smart and amazing!! I remember the time of me first trying to assist him and his beautiful spirit of "I got this" and the very first time with dignity of accepting my assistance. Wyn was Always included in everything. We tried different beds that would work for Wyn, finally found!! An important lesson learned ~ A bed is more than where you lay your head at night. His adorable, quirky little doll self, not only affected my life and heart, but also his brudders and sissy. His feathered brudder was enamored by him. When Wyn first joined our family, he would watch and watch his funny looking "dog" (bird) brudder. Not quite sure why he looked different, but acted liked one of them. They became fast friends and feathered one took over quick guardianship of Wyn❤ His other brudders Always looked out for him and would let me know if he needed something they thought I might have missed❤❤ His sissy, (who is 19 and blind), always made sure she was close by him at night, for sleeping❤ This is just a very short reflection in gratitude for our Wyn. Huge Thank you to ERU and Dyan for bringing Wyn into ERU family and our family And Mary Mahoney and Tom for driving and breaking him outta jail for me. Love without judgement........Candy Kane, February 24, 2017
