Meet our newest arrival at the R'Eskie Ranch - NYLA! This sweet senior girl's mommy passed away in June after being in hospice for several months. The person charged with caring for Nyla was found not to have done so, so a good Samaritan put a plea for help on FB. It was reported that Nyla had a broken leg.

The post was seen by Eskie angels, and with their tremendous efforts, Nyla was picked up in Southern VA and driven to Gambrills, MD to be seen by our wonderful DVM and team yesterday. Nyla has a dislocated hip, and it seems it has been this way for quite some time due to severe muscle loss. She was covered in fleas and filthy, so she was shaved down. Her blood work looks pretty good considering, other than being anemic, and her heart, liver and spleen are enlarged.

Nyla will need femoral head ostectomy surgery to fix her hip along with dental work (she has at least one rotten tooth). Right now she is on antibiotics and pain meds and is doing remarkably well.

Nyla was born in Sept 2007, is 18 pounds, and is great with the other five eskies here at the ranch.

We are so thankful to Whitney, Marsha, Dr. Andersen, Valerie and Heather at WCAH. Thanks to these folks, this little girl has a second chance at a wonderful life filled with love and care.

Good with Dogs

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
