I am a 2 to 3 year old male, neutered eskie with the most gorgeous teddy-bear features.. I am 30 lbs of adorable fluff. My biscuit accented ears are nice and round and fluffy and big - just like a teddy bear! I am named after the super nice lady that rescued me -- she drove me from the scary pound to safety for hundreds of miles. I am such a good boy in the car, I love to look out the window and make people smile -- they see me and of course I am so handsome, they can't help but smile at me. My foster mommy and daddy have given me a status that most doggies in their care don't reach -- "full house privileges" Woo Hoo! What that means, is I get to stay out and be with all their own doggies during the day and night, no crates or pet gates for me because I'm such a well mannered fella. I am completely housetrained; leash trained, and I know"sit", "come" and "give a paw". With all that perfection you have to be thinking there's a "but" in there - well, I must own up to a furniture habit -- if you want me, you have to let me be up on your furniture and in your bed. I would be miserable if you did not let me sleep and cuddle with you, and of course rest on the sofa and watch TV with you. So if you don't like doggies on your stuff, please don't adopt me, I am not the dog for you. I love to play with all the other eskies that are here, and there are a bunch of them, we are not sure how I am around cats, but I was nice to a duck that was laying eggs near the house. I like to chase those lizards though. The other eskies and I love to play with toys, we have so much fun zooming around and playing. When I meet other dogs out on the street, or at the store, I tend to bark real mean to them, my foster mommy is trying to make me stop that, she says I am not being nice. So it would be a good idea to take me to obedience lessons to learn to socialize and stop doing that behavior. My foster mommy can show you some good training ideas to get me to stop doing that. So a local or FL adoption would be best, instead of real far away. I love to be brushed and bathed, and wow when I got here she spent a long time getting my coat into shape, I was so matted I had not been cared for at my previous home. I had to have my tushy and belly area shaved due to all the matts, but it will grow back -- it is real important that I am brushed frequently since I am so extra fluffy. I tolerate my nails being trimmed, I can think of other things I like better, but if you are gentle and reassure me, it is not a problem to do. I do not like my teeth being brushed, but I do love nylabones and chewies. I have a great eskie smile with real pearly white teeth. I am not food or toy aggressive, I am real nice to the kids, but it's probably best if your kids are over the age of 8 - that way they won't be scared of my barking or bouncing at them. That is another behavior I am working on toning down -- my extra bounciness especially if I know I am going on a walk or ride, or when you first come home. All in all I am a great boy and I would love a home with some other fun dogs to play with and a fenced yard to run around in. Are you that forever family to love me like I deserve? Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
